Art Nouveau Mirror Frame Class:
Frames are one of Master Carver Leonid Zakurdayev's specialties, and their design, construction and carving will be examined in this highly informative three-day class. The project appears deceptively simple, but is definitely for the intermediate to advanced carver. The project serves as an artistic examination of the use of lines as decorative elements and nowhere are lines as beautifully applied as in Art Nouveau design. Construction of frames will be discussed, and rabbeting of the back side will be performed in order to receive a mirror or picture. A major focus of this course will be on drawing and developing designs. This demanding three-day course will prove indispensable to any woodcarver, but will be of special interest to furniture makers.
